The governor of the Bank of England. Mervyn King, has said that banks like RBS, Nothern Rock & Lloyds have had 1,000 billion pounds of government resources. Thanks to us taxpayers banks were bailed out. Now that the banks are effectively nationalised why can’t the government oblige them to make available interest free loans to local companies for investment in sustainable projects to protect the environment?
