My Experience
Rob was born on the 14th January 1966 and went to Bournville Junior & Infants Schools before attending King's Norton Boys' School in Birmingham. He then attended the University College of North Wales, Bangor to study Chemistry.
He has held many positions within the Labour Party and is also a member of the Co-operative Party, UNITE (Transport and General Workers Union & Amicus Sections), USDAW and UNITY Unions.
Before becoming an MP, Rob helped run a Children's Charity and worked for 16 years as a Taxation and Finance Accountant. He was also a Birmingham City Councillor for the Longbridge area.
In his spare time he enjoys running, reading and riding his motorbike. He has run the London Marathon in aid of two children's charities and has starred in an amateur theatre production.
In the House of Commons, Rob is currently Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to the Secretary of State for Defence, Bob Ainsworth. He has also been a member of the Science and Technology Select Committee.
