My Experience
New Forest East Labour Party parliamentary candidate for the next general election. Peter Sopowski , is a local parish councillor and Chairman of the New Forest East Labour Party. A teacher in the area since 1976, having worked at Hounsdown and Arnewood Schools during that time. As well as teaching he is the Secretary of a major teaching union, (NUT) where casework, representations and negotiations on behalf of members is a normal commitment. Prior to a teaching career, he has had many jobs including telecommunications engineer, farm worker, gas fitter , hospital work and HGV driver. Peter has lived in the area since 1976 at Calmore, Lyndhurst and now Ashurst. He is a volunteer sailing instructor and has always been interested in promoting Outdoor Education and was active in helping to ‘Save Calshot’. Peter is keen to protect the New Forest and within the Labour Party lobbied hard against ABP plans for Dibden Bay. He worked hard to promote National Park Status , challenging the local opponents vigorously. Peter is a member of the New Forest Association and represents his parish on the New Forest Consultative Panel.
