Self-employed businessman John Oliver will be standing for the British National Party in Hereford, it was announced at the local party meeting this week.

The local group has worked tirelessly over the past few months to ensure that funding is in place and organiser Chris Gower said he was “delighted” to be able to confirm Mr Oliver’s nomination.

“The people of Hereford are going to have a chance to reject the old-gang parties and vote BNP for the first time in a general election,” Mr Gower told the meeting.

He went on to thank all the local activists who had contributed financially to make the campaign possible.

Mr Oliver said his campaign would focus around the national themes of supporting British troops and getting them out of Afghanistan, halting the immigration swindle and restoring the local economy.
