Biography
After John attended school at St Edmund's School in Canterbury, he studied at both Oxford and Reading University. Wanting to further his knowledge about developing countries John got a job with the United Nations in Africa. He set up a famine camp for Oxfam in Ethiopia during the famine of the 1980s. Wanting to learn more about the European Union, he became a civil servant in Brussels, working for the European Union. John's view on the EU is that it is a very good thing, not perfect in nature, but Britain is better off as a part of the EU. He believes that the whole world can be peaceful and Britain can do a great deal to bring this about and to rid the world of war. He has written a book, entitled "The Uniting of Nations: An Essay on Global Governance" explaining how he thinks this can come about. You can find out more about John's book at http://www.the-uniting-of-nations.com. He believes that if the world were at peace, all countries would be better off. This includes the people of Britain - and the constituents of Chatham and Aylesford, as well. John is married with two children.
