What is your policy on coal-fired power stations? Should there be a moratorium on new coal-fired power plants in Britain, as suggested by James Hansen, the first scientist to warn the US Congress of the dangers of climate change?

The Green Party are opposed tocoal-fired power stations. Coal-fired power stations that have no means of capturing and storing their carbon dioxide emissions. Burning coal is the single biggest cause of climate change.

Why is it that although the competitions commission deemed that supermarkets held no unfair advantage over independent retailers, small independent shops and food markets aren't granted access to free parking, whilst supermarkets are?

Click link to view: Local high streets, and local food producers are being damaged by chains and large out-of-town superstores. These attract customers away from independent shops. The net result is money being drained out of the local economy. This is not progress.

Recent claims say that the UK asylum policy makes it overly difficult for those seeking asylum to enter the country. Do you agree with this and if so how would you reform the policies?

THe Green's have consistently argued for an asylum and migration policy that treats people with dignity – in particular highlighting the need to support people fromcountries facing ongoing conflict, such as Iraq and Zimbabwe, where safe return is not possible. For example, they have supported a resolution in the European Parliament to prevent EU countries from forcibly returning refugees to Iraq while the country is unstable. They have also campaigned against the deportation of migrants who arrived in the UK as children and know no other home country, and have opposed forced deportations that break up families.

Does your party agree that it should be made a criminal offence to pay for sex?
