Does the UK need a new consitution? If so, what would your party propose? United Kingdom Independence Party - 17th Dec, 2008 UKIP propose a new constitution that will involve: 1) A major move to direct democracy with referenda for all major national or local issues of concern. 2) Create four national assemblies including a new English Parliament in Westminster. 3) A reformed "House of Lords and Senators" introducing 200 elected "Lord Senators", with strict quality criteria. 4) A move to Alternative Vote AV) voting systems for all elections. 5)Part of the Crown Estates to be moved to the monarchy, to end annual state support. |

Does your party support a referendum on the Lisbon treaty? United Kingdom Independence Party - 20th Mar, 2009 UKIP argue that for the government to pretend that the Lisbon Treaty is any different from the failed Constitution and deny the British people a referendum is monstrous. |

United Kingdom Independence Party - 19th Dec, 2008 UKIP proposes an increase in nuclear power generation to provide 50% or more of our growing electricity needs within 10-15 years. UKIP would allow acceleration of the planning process by Acts of Parliament where new reactors replaced old reactors on the same sites. The party also supports the efficient extraction and use of indigenous coal using new technology such as the clean coal power generation plant. |

What is the answer to the West Lothian Question? United Kingdom Independence Party - 19th Dec, 2008 · A solution to the "West Lothian Question" by creating four national assemblies including a new English Parliament in Westminster, but replacing all national level politicians with Westminster MPs – MSPs with MPs etc – meeting one week a month nationally. There would be English departments and an English First Minister. |
